2026 Brisbane International ATP Draw Features Kyrgios Fonseca Medvedev

-

The 2026 Brisbane International is shaping up to be one hell of a tournament. The draw’s been released, and it’s absolutely stacked with some of the biggest names in tennis.

This isn’t your typical ATP 250 event. We’re talking about a lineup that could rival some Masters 1000 tournaments.

Daniil Medvedev headlines as the top seed and the only former world No. 1 in the field. The Russian Grand Slam champion will kick off his season against Marton Fucsovics – and anyone who’s watched Fucsovics play knows he’s not going to make things easy.

Medvedev’s only played Brisbane once before, back in 2019 when he reached the final. But this tournament has a pretty amazing collection of former champions returning.

Grigor Dimitrov owns this event. The Bulgarian has won it twice – in 2017 and just last year in 2024.

He’s been pretty quiet since barely playing at the end of 2025, so everyone’s curious to see what kind of form he brings. Dimitrov will face a qualifier in his opener, and if he wins, could run into fifth-seeded Denis Shapovalov.

The defending champion is Jiri Lehecka. The Czech player won it all in 2025, and now he’s back as the third seed. His first-round opponent? Fellow Czech Tomas Machac. Talk about a tough start to your title defense.

Then there’s Nick Kyrgios.

The Australian won Brisbane back in 2018 and he’s been through a lot since then. He basically disappeared after Miami last year, missing the rest of the season. Though he did recently beat Aryna Sabalenka in that exhibition Battle of the Sexes match in Dubai.

Kyrgios needed a wildcard to get into the main draw this time around. He’ll play Aleksandar Kovacevic first up, with the winner potentially facing either Cameron Norrie or Ugo Humbert. The home crowd’s definitely going to be loud for this one.

Keep your eyes on Joao Fonseca. The 19-year-old Brazilian is one of the most exciting young players on tour right now, and he’s got a brutal first-round matchup against last year’s finalist Reilly Opelka.

That’s not even close to all the fireworks we’ll see in round one.

Frances Tiafoe takes on Aleksandar Vukic, while Valentin Vacherot faces Sebastian Korda. Basically, there are no easy matches in this draw.

With this kind of field, Brisbane’s going to be must-watch tennis right from the start of the season. Between the returning champions, the young guns, and the comeback stories, it’s pretty amazing what they’ve put together at the Queensland Tennis Centre.
