2026 Hong Kong Open Prize Money & ATP Ranking Points Overview

-

The 2026 Hong Kong Open kicks off January 5th-11th as one of the year’s first ATP tournaments. And there’s some pretty decent money on the table.

Lorenzo Musetti leads the field as the top seed. The Italian had a solid 2025 with multiple final appearances and he’s looking to start 2026 strong.

He’ll face some tough competition though.

Andrey Rublev, Karen Khachanov, and Alexander Bublik are all in the draw. Bublik especially had his best season ever in 2025, so he’s coming in with confidence.

The most interesting name? Marin Cilic. The 2014 US Open champion didn’t get seeded, but he’s always dangerous when he’s healthy.

Everyone’s motivated to build momentum for the Australian Open. But the prize money doesn’t hurt either.

What’s At Stake

The winner walks away with $106,460 and 250 ATP points. Not bad for a week’s work.

Alexandre Muller won it last year, beating Kei Nishikori in what was an incredible story. Nishikori reaching that final after all his injury problems was pretty amazing to watch.

The runner-up gets $62,115 and 165 points.

This tournament has some history too. It didn’t run from 2003 to 2023, but back in the day, players like Boris Becker and Jim Courier were runners-up here.

Even making the semifinals pays well – $36,520 and 100 points. That’s enough to give several players in this draw a nice rankings boost.

Last year’s quarterfinalists included Musetti, Cameron Norrie, Fabian Marozsan, and Arthur Fils. This year’s quarterfinalists will earn $21,155 and 50 points.

Round of 16 losers get $12,285 and 25 points. Even if you lose in the first round, you’re guaranteed $7,510 – though no ranking points for that one.

Tennis Season Already Underway

The 2026 season actually started January 2nd with the United Cup. There’s already been some drama there, including Coco Gauff saving Team USA’s bacon with two clutch wins.

Aryna Sabalenka starts her season January 5th at the Brisbane International. She’s coming off that controversial exhibition match against Nick Kyrgios in Dubai.

Kyrgios beat her 6-3, 6-3 despite looking pretty out of shape. Sabalenka even got a bigger court to hit into. A lot of people thought it made the WTA look bad.

Speaking of comebacks, Venus Williams got a wild card into the ASB Classic, also starting January 5th.

The 45-year-old isn’t done yet. She also got a wild card for the Australian Open, where she’s been runner-up twice before.
