Alcaraz Sinner Djokovic Tennis Stars

-

The final ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the season is coming up at the 2025 Paris Masters, and wow, the entry list is absolutely stacked.

This tournament has some serious history behind it. It’s been around since 1969, making it one of the ATP’s most prestigious events.

What makes Paris really special? It’s the only Masters 1000 tournament played indoors, which adds a completely different flavor to a tour that’s mostly played outside.

Big Changes Coming

This year’s tournament is moving to a brand new home at the La Defense Arena. That’s going to make for quite an experience.

The Accor Arena in Bercy hosted the event from 1986 all the way through last year’s emotional farewell. Pretty amazing run.

Will Djokovic Show Up?

Novak Djokovic owns this tournament with a record seven Paris Masters titles. The guy’s been absolutely dominant there over the years.

But here’s the thing – he skipped Paris completely last year. Then he really shocked everyone by not playing at the 2024 ATP Finals, even though he’d earned his spot.

Right now, Djokovic is on the entry list for 2025. Whether he’ll actually show up to chase that eighth title? That’s anyone’s guess.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion is definitely playing at the 2025 Shanghai Masters and the Six Kings Slam. He did those same tournaments last year before calling it a season.

But Djokovic recently said something pretty interesting. He thinks his best shot at beating Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner comes in best-of-three matches rather than best-of-five. That might mean he’s planning to play more Masters events like Paris.

Alcaraz’s Surprising Struggle

Here’s something that might surprise you – Alcaraz has never really figured out the Paris Masters.

In four tries, the world No. 1’s best result was just one quarterfinal back in 2022. For a guy who wins pretty much everywhere, that’s really unusual.

The problem? Alcaraz just isn’t as comfortable on indoor hard courts.

Last year, he actually got pretty frustrated and criticized how fast they made the courts. For years, Paris played pretty slow, but they completely changed that in 2024.

Sinner’s Indoor Puzzle

Sinner’s record at Paris is also surprisingly weak compared to other Masters events. Which is weird when you think about it.

The Italian has won seven indoor titles, including his incredible run at the 2024 ATP Finals on home soil in Turin. The guy clearly knows how to play indoors.

But here’s the catch – his first two Paris appearances were in 2021 and 2022, when he was still developing as a player. He had to withdraw in 2023, then skipped 2024 entirely.

That means Sinner hasn’t actually competed in Paris since he and Alcaraz started taking over the tennis world.

Defending Champion Returns

Alexander Zverev is coming back as the defending champion after beating home favorite Ugo Humbert in last year’s final.

The German can finish the year ranked as high as No. 3, and a strong showing in Paris would really boost those chances.

Who Else to Watch

Ben Shelton is probably hoping those courts stay fast this year. With his massive serve, quick conditions would definitely play into his hands against the big names.

The entry list also includes Taylor Fritz, Casper Ruud, Holger Rune, Lorenzo Musetti, Frances Tiafoe, Daniil Medvedev, and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

With the new venue and all these storylines, this year’s Paris Masters could be really special.
