John McEnroe believes Murray deserves a statue at Wimbledon for his contributions to British tennis. “If I was making that decision, I would say absolutely, yes,” said McEnroe. “He’s absolutely changed the way people look at British tennis.”
Fans might think this recognition is long overdue given Murray’s impact on the sport.
Statues at major events aren’t new; Rafael Nadal has one at Roland Garros. McEnroe argues that Murray should have one too at SW19. However, right now, Murray hopes to participate in future events despite uncertainties about his health.
“It would be well deserved,” added McEnroe. “Two of his three Grand Slam wins were at Wimbledon plus the Olympics.”
