Novak Djokovic thanked Taylor Fritz for helping him recover from a knee injury he got at Roland Garros.
Djokovic was unsure if he could play at Wimbledon 2024, which starts on July 1st. He slipped several times while playing Francisco Cerundolo at the French Open but managed to win the match in five sets.
Tests and an MRI showed a tear in his right knee. After talking with his team, he pulled out of the tournament before facing Casper Ruud to have surgery .
Quick Recovery and Support
Now, Djokovic seems ready for Wimbledon and will face Vit Kopriva in the first round. His fast recovery is surprising since his surgeon was not optimistic about him being fit for London.

Djokovic shared that he talked privately with Fritz, who had a similar injury after the 2021 French Open and recovered even faster to play at Wimbledon that year. Fans might find this news very inspiring.
“Taylor Fritz! Three years ago he had pretty much same situation. Actually, I had probably like four, five days more than him. So, he was the first person I reached out to when I found out that he had similar injury and circumstance.”
“He was very kind to share his journey and really helped out with some of the experiences and advices, you know, how to approach it because it’s the first time I had this kind of a knee injury.”
Djokovic has been practicing with a knee brace and won against Daniil Medvedev at an exhibition in Hurlingham. He aims for an eighth title in two weeks’ time.
