Djokovic’s Knee Injury Recovery Among Top Career Achievements

-

Novak Djokovic is now in the Wimbledon semi-final, which seemed impossible a few weeks ago due to his knee injury.

During the fourth round at Roland Garros against Francisco Cerundolo, Djokovic started having knee problems. Despite winning that match, it came with a cost.

He tore his meniscus and had to withdraw from the tournament, creating a huge problem since Wimbledon was just around the corner.

Djokovic’s Quick Recovery:

To make it to London in time for Wimbledon, Djokovic chose surgery, something he usually avoids. The operation was successful, allowing him to return quickly and compete at Wimbledon. He considers this speedy recovery one of his greatest achievements.

“Well, right at the top. Maybe two or three in terms of the time it took to come back to the desired level. It was the first time that I had faced this kind of particular knee injury.”

“I had never had a major knee injury. Unfortunately, I injured myself mid-match in the fourth round of Roland Garros, and I tore my meniscus.”

In an interview with Tennis Channel , Djokovic shared that part of his meniscus had to be removed for him to recover swiftly. This decision has paid off as he’s now through to the semi-final at SW19.

Fans might think it’s amazing how fast he bounced back!

“Part of it had to be taken out, which is obviously not where it’s supposed to be,” he said. “I decided with my team members to go have an arthroscopic intervention literally a day after. All the doctors I know told me recovery would be quicker with surgery.”

What do you think about Djokovic’s quick return?
