Jannik Sinner might be adding another new face to his team. The world No. 1 was recently spotted with an experienced physiotherapist in Beijing.
Normally, fitness coaches and physios don’t grab headlines in tennis. But Sinner’s situation is different.
His high-profile doping case has put every team change under the microscope.
| Name | Age | Points | Stats 2024 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jannik Sinner | 24 | 15,405 | 33 - 3 |
The controversy started at the 2024 US Open when Sinner tested positive for clostebol. It wasn’t his fault – his physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi had accidentally contaminated him during a massage. Naldi had used a spray containing the banned substance that fitness coach Umberto Ferrara had given him.
The Fallout
After months of stress and uncertainty, Sinner served a three-month suspension from February until just before the Italian Open in May.
He fired both Naldi and Ferrara right before the 2024 US Open when the doping story went public.
A few weeks later, Sinner brought in Marco Panichi and Ulises Badio as replacements. Both had worked successfully with Novak Djokovic, so they seemed like perfect choices that sent a message to the tennis world.
The partnership looked great at first. Sinner won his second Australian Open title and came within three points of claiming his first French Open, losing to Carlos Alcaraz in an epic final.
Everything seemed to be working perfectly.
Shocking Changes
That’s why tennis fans were stunned when Sinner suddenly split with Panichi and Badio just before Wimbledon 2025.
He didn’t really explain why at the time. Pretty vague reasoning that left everyone guessing.
Then came the real shocker – Sinner rehired Ferrara, the same fitness coach who’d been involved in his doping case. That move left fans absolutely baffled and many pretty angry.
Now there’s buzz about another potential team addition.
New Face in Beijing
Photos started circulating on social media showing Sinner arriving in Beijing for the China Open with someone new by his side.
That person appears to be Alejandro Resnicoff, a highly experienced physiotherapist who’s worked on the ATP Tour for over 15 years.
If true, it’s actually a smart choice. Resnicoff knows what he’s doing at the highest level of tennis.
Plus, this isn’t their first time working together. Sinner actually collaborated with Resnicoff during the 2023 Wimbledon Championships.
There’s more history there too. Resnicoff was present when Sinner launched his own foundation a few months ago. Being invited to such a personal event suggests he’s been an important figure in the 24-year-old’s life for a while.
Still Unofficial
It’s worth noting that Sinner’s team hasn’t made any official announcements yet.
The evidence strongly points to Resnicoff joining the team, but we can’t say for certain until there’s confirmation.
Hopefully Sinner can avoid any more controversies moving forward. The 2024 US Open champion clearly didn’t want to talk much about rehiring Ferrara, probably knowing how much backlash it would create.
Back to Tennis
For now, Sinner’s focused on trying to win a second China Open title when the tournament begins.
He won it back in 2023, but lost a brutal three-hour final to Alcaraz last year. That match was absolutely exhausting to watch – can’t imagine how the players felt.
Time will tell if the potential new addition to his team helps him get back on top in Beijing.
