Nick Kyrgios once interacted with Andrew Tate on social media but now wants to distance himself from him.
Andrew Tate, a social media personality, was jailed in Romania for human trafficking allegations and is known for his controversial and misogynistic opinions.
Kyrgios, despite his own troubled past, found himself in hot water after engaging with Tate online. Many fans were furious when they saw it on his timeline.
Nick Kyrgios’ Response:
Kyrgios explained his actions before joining the BBC commentary team for Wimbledon. He admitted he wasn’t fully aware of who Tate was at the time. “I was not aware of the full picture when I reposted Andrew Tate. Since I have learned of the full story I have deleted posts, unfollowed him and gone to all lengths to distance myself.”

The incident went viral due to Kyrgios’ own history, which includes a domestic violence trial where he pleaded guilty but avoided conviction. Fans might think it’s good he’s trying to make things right.
“What I did was wrong; I think I’ve been very clear about that,” Kyrgios said. “I reacted to a difficult situation in a way that I deeply regret. I have apologized, and I really meant it when I said nothing like it will ever happen again. For now, I’m just so happy to be here at Wimbledon and doing my best to share some insights into the tournament for everyone watching on the BBC.”
What do you think about Nick’s efforts to set things straight?
