Raducanu Responds to Relationship Question Amid Alcaraz Dating Rumors

Emma Raducanu got asked the question everyone’s been wondering about at her 2025 Wimbledon press conference. Are she and Carlos Alcaraz actually dating?

The rumors started flying last week when it came out that the two would be playing mixed doubles together at the 2025 US Open fan week.

This isn’t your typical mixed doubles setup either. They scrapped the usual format to create something that would actually get top singles players involved.

Sure, there were other pretty amazing pairs announced. Aryna Sabalenka and Grigor Dimitrov. Naomi Osaka and Nick Kyrgios. Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa.

But Raducanu and Alcaraz? That pairing got way more attention than any of the others.

Both players are 22. Both won the US Open as teenagers, which is pretty incredible when you think about it. So naturally, people started connecting the dots.

Then Alcaraz made things even more interesting. The five-time major champion admitted he personally asked to play with the Briton. He wanted to be paired with her more than anyone else on the list.

That definitely got people talking.

Things heated up even more when Raducanu showed up at Queen’s Club to watch Alcaraz play. He ended up winning the title, but that’s not what everyone was focusing on.

There was this moment during his match that went completely viral. Raducanu looked really impressed after Alcaraz hit a particularly good shot.

"We’re just good friends."

The 2021 US Open winner seemed to find the whole thing pretty amusing though. She wasn’t offended or anything. When the press conference ended right after that question, she gave everyone a double thumbs-up.

But Maybe There’s More?

Here’s the thing though – fans who are hoping for something romantic might not want to give up just yet.

It’s actually pretty common for athletes to keep new relationships under wraps. Being in a high-profile relationship comes with a lot of scrutiny. Sometimes it’s just easier to say you’re friends, at least at first.

Of course, she could also be telling the complete truth. Some players make a real effort not to date other tennis players because of all the stress that comes with it.

Coco Gauff is one of those players. The 2025 Roland Garros champion has said she’s happy not dating another tennis player. She’s been with someone for a while now – a guy who recently applied for music school. She keeps that relationship pretty private.

When Tennis Couples Work

That said, successful tennis couples definitely exist.

Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter are engaged. Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas have been dating since 2023, except for a few weeks when they briefly broke up.

The most famous tennis couple has to be Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi. They got married in 2001 and have a combined 30 Grand Slam singles titles between them.

They even play pickleball together now, which is kind of adorable.

But it doesn’t always work out. Anastasia Potapova and Alexander Shevchenko were married for less than a year before they divorced.

So who knows? Maybe Raducanu and Alcaraz really are just good friends who happen to make an intriguing mixed doubles pair.
