Sinner Becomes World No. 1 After Wimbledon

-

Jannik Sinner will remain the world No. 1 player after Wimbledon 2024.

The young Italian recently climbed to the top spot in ATP rankings and has already spent three weeks there. He’ll continue adding more weeks to his reign at the top.

His closest rivals had a slim chance to dethrone him at Wimbledon, where he needs to defend 720 points from last year’s semi-finals . But thanks to his Halle Open win, Sinner has secured enough points that no one can catch him during the tournament.

Wimbledon Points Drama:

Carlos Alcaraz, a former world No. 1, can’t gain any points at Wimbledon since he won last year and must defend those 2,000 points. This could drop his total to 6,130 points, putting him at risk of losing his No. 3 spot to Alexander Zverev unless he performs well in London.

Now, only two men are left in the race for world No. 1: Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner. Djokovic is defending last year’s final with its 1,200 points but will drop to 7,160 if he doesn’t repeat that success.

Even if Sinner loses early and Djokovic wins the title (earning 2,000 points), Sinner would still have a slight edge with a total of around 9,170 points compared to Djokovic’s potential maximum of about 7,160.

Fans might think this news makes things very exciting!

Sinner is unlikely to lose early at Wimbledon as he’s one of the favorites and could extend his lead even further.

What do you think? Will Sinner keep dominating?
