Swiatek Reveals Attempt to Ease Atmosphere During Wimbledon Dance with Sinner

-

Iga Swiatek just shared some pretty funny details about her dance with Jannik Sinner at the 2025 Wimbledon Champions Ball. And honestly, it’s not what you’d expect from two of tennis’s biggest stars.

Let’s be real – nobody saw Swiatek’s Wimbledon title coming.

Grass courts had always been her worst surface. She’d struggled there for years. But something clicked at SW19, and she absolutely dominated the tournament.

Her final performance was just brutal. She beat Amanda Anisimova 6-0, 6-0. That’s what we call a double bagel in tennis – basically as one-sided as it gets.

Sinner Had His Own Comeback Story

Sinner’s win wasn’t quite as shocking since he started as the second favorite behind Carlos Alcaraz. But he was carrying some serious mental baggage into Wimbledon.

Just weeks earlier, he’d blown three championship points at the French Open final. That’s the kind of loss that can mess with your head for months.

But he got his revenge at Wimbledon, beating Alcaraz in four sets.

Having two new champions meant everyone was watching their traditional dance at the ball afterward. Both players are pretty introverted normally, so people weren’t sure what to expect.

The Dance That Went Viral

Turns out, they had a really sweet moment that quickly went viral on social media.

In a recent interview with Polsat Sport, Swiatek revealed exactly how she made it work. The six-time Grand Slam champion said she kept cracking jokes to help Sinner relax – and it didn’t hurt that he’d had a few drinks by that point.

"I think Jannik was feeling pretty relaxed for a number of reasons; I also wanted to ease the atmosphere, so I kept making little jokes in his ear. He was mostly leading, I just tried to keep up – since that’s kind of how it goes in dancing I guess. On the other hand, we both knew we didn’t want to try anything complicated, so I really enjoyed it and I hope we’ll get another chance sometime."

The fact that she was whispering jokes in his ear while they danced is pretty amazing. You can tell she was trying to help him feel comfortable in what could’ve been an awkward situation.

Neither of them wanted to attempt anything too fancy dance-wise, which was probably smart given that millions of people were watching.

What’s Next for the Champions

Both players are gunning for the No. 1 ranking in 2026.

Swiatek finished second behind Aryna Sabalenka for the second year in a row. That’s gotta sting, especially after winning Wimbledon.

Sinner’s situation is similar – he lost the year-end ranking to Alcaraz despite beating him to win the 2025 ATP Finals. Sometimes tennis rankings don’t tell the whole story.

The Shadow Over Their Success

Unfortunately, both champions share something they’d rather forget – doping cases that shook the tennis world.

Sinner’s case became public in August 2024 when it was revealed he’d tested positive for clostebol at Indian Wells back in March. The whole thing dragged on for months.

He eventually got a three-month ban from February until just before the 2025 Italian Open. The timing was… interesting, to say the least.

Novak Djokovic recently pointed out how strange it was that the ban fell between Grand Slams rather than during major tournaments. Though he also said he believes Sinner didn’t intentionally dope.

Swiatek’s case was different – she served a one-month suspension for testing positive for trimetazidine. But here’s the thing: it came from contaminated melatonin tablets she bought in Poland.

Most people had more sympathy for her situation. Tons of players use melatonin when they’re dealing with jet lag and time zone changes. There’s no way she could’ve known the tablets were contaminated.

Both cases highlight how complicated anti-doping rules can be in professional tennis. Sometimes players get caught up in situations completely beyond their control.

At least they can look back on that Wimbledon dance as a purely happy memory from an otherwise complicated year.
