Carlos Alcaraz Denies Fake News About Missing Nike Logo at ATP Finals

-

Carlos Alcaraz was supposed to show off a brand new Nike logo at the 2025 ATP Finals, according to some reports. But fans who were looking forward to seeing it got disappointed.

Turns out, it was never going to happen.

The Spanish star says those reports were completely wrong. He’s still working on getting his own customized Nike logo, but there was never a plan to debut it at the year-end championships.

It would’ve been pretty cool timing, though. Jannik Sinner got his personalized Nike logo at last year’s ATP Finals in Turin. The Italian handled all that home crowd pressure really well and won his first ATP Finals title.

This year, Sinner won it again.

Alcaraz couldn’t stop him, losing 6-7, 5-7 in Sunday’s final. The 22-year-old had his chances but the tight moments didn’t go his way. He also picked up a minor injury during the match.

That injury was serious enough to force him out of the 2025 Davis Cup Finals. But Alcaraz still did a virtual press conference before some exhibition matches he’s got planned in December against Frances Tiafoe and Joao Fonseca.

Setting the record straight

Sports Illustrated asked him about the Nike logo situation during that press conference. Alcaraz was pretty direct about it.

“It was fake news, to be honest. I’m still working on it, but I didn’t say anything about launching the logo on the ATP Finals. So I’m still working on it. I had a few meetings and we’re going in a good way, in a good path, to launch the logo as soon as possible. So, all I can say right now is I’m still working on it, but hopefully, hopefully I’m gonna get it soon.”

Getting your own logo from Nike is a big deal. It means you’ve reached a certain level where the brand sees you as special enough to create something unique just for you.

For a six-time Grand Slam champion like Alcaraz, plenty of other brands would love to work with him. Nike knows they need to keep him happy.

Sabalenka’s Nike frustration

Alcaraz isn’t the only top player dealing with Nike issues right now. Aryna Sabalenka, the WTA world No. 1, recently called out the brand for not doing anything special for her in 2026.

Pretty surprising, considering she’s been the year-end No. 1 for two straight years.

After her final match at the 2025 WTA Finals against Elena Rybakina, Sabalenka admitted that nothing special is being planned for her next season. She even jokingly asked reporters to message Nike about it.

The four-time Grand Slam winner did say 2027 will be better, though. Sounds like Nike has promised her some special gear or designs for that year.

It’s interesting timing. Alcaraz is working on his logo for 2026, while Sabalenka has to wait until 2027 for her special treatment. Maybe Nike can only focus on one tennis star at a time?

Sabalenka’s next match is actually going to be pretty controversial. She’s playing Nick Kyrgios in a "battle of the sexes" exhibition on December 28th. The concept has gotten mixed reactions, but the Belarusian doesn’t think it’ll hurt women’s tennis.

For now, Alcaraz fans will just have to wait a bit longer to see what his personalized Nike logo looks like. At least we know it’s definitely coming eventually.
