Carlos Alcaraz just got some fresh ink to celebrate his latest triumph. The 22-year-old tennis star added to his growing tattoo collection during the off-season, this time honoring his 2025 US Open victory.
This isn’t Alcaraz’s first trip to the tattoo parlor.
He started this tradition back in 2022 after winning his very first major title. That September 11th, 2022 date is permanently etched on his left arm – marking the day he beat Casper Ruud to claim his maiden US Open crown.
| Name | Age | Points | Stats 2024 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carlos Alcaraz | 22 | 68,791 | 25 - 5 |
The Spanish sensation clearly caught the tattoo bug after that. In 2024, he added another piece of art to commemorate his breakthrough Wimbledon win.
Just a few months later, he was back in the chair again. This time it was for his first French Open title at Roland Garros.
He even planned to get inked for an Olympic gold medal at the Paris Games. But Novak Djokovic had other plans, beating him in the final.
Here’s the thing – at just 22 years old, Alcaraz is racking up major titles pretty quickly. If he keeps getting a new tattoo for every Grand Slam win, he’s gonna run out of real estate on his body fast.
So this time, he got creative.
Instead of finding a completely new spot, Alcaraz decided to upgrade his original US Open tattoo. He added the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge right above that 2022 date, creating a tribute to both of his Flushing Meadows victories.
It’s a pretty smart solution, honestly.
Tennis isn’t the only way Alcaraz grabs headlines these days. The guy’s become quite the style icon off the court too. Remember when he went full blonde earlier this year? That definitely turned some heads.
He’s back to his natural hair color now, but that new tattoo is sure to get people talking when he hits the courts in Melbourne. The Australian Open represents his next big goal – a seventh career major title and his first Down Under.
And yes, that would probably mean another tattoo.
Former Wimbledon champ worries Alcaraz might retire at 25
The hair and tattoos aren’t the only things making news in Alcaraz’s world lately. He shocked everyone by splitting with coach Juan Carlos Ferrero – the guy who helped guide him to all those major titles.
Marion Bartoli, who won Wimbledon back in 2013, isn’t thrilled about this decision.
She’s actually worried that without the right guidance, Alcaraz might follow in Bjorn Borg’s footsteps and retire way too early. Borg famously walked away from tennis at just 25 years old, right in his prime.
"I am worried, but in a measured way, because he is someone who has exceptional qualities to begin with. But he needs structure because otherwise, he could end up quitting tennis like Borg did at 25."
That’s a scary thought for tennis fans.
"And we have a genius here, so we don’t want that; we want him to continue for a very, very long time. What’s going to happen is that for the first six months, it’s going to be a trial-and-error process."
Bartoli thinks the next few months will be crucial. Alcaraz needs to find the right coach, and fast.
"There will be names circulating, people wondering who will take the job, who won’t. If things don’t work out with the person he hires for whatever reason, and it’s Sinner who starts taking the first two Grand Slams of the season — that is, the Australian Open, where Jannik is the overwhelming favourite, and Roland Garros, where he was one point away from winning it — he’s going to call Juan Carlos back immediately, that’s obvious."
The timing couldn’t be more interesting. Jannik Sinner is looking like the man to beat in Melbourne, and he came incredibly close to beating Alcaraz at last year’s French Open.
If Sinner starts the year by winning both the Australian Open and French Open, don’t be surprised if Alcaraz and Ferrero have a reunion pretty quickly.
