Djokovic to Join Serbian Davis Cup Team After US Open

-

Novak Djokovic plans to join Serbia’s Davis Cup team right after the 2024 US Open.

He wants another Davis Cup title with his country, having already won in 2010 with Tipsarevic, Troicki, and Zimonjic. Last year, though, Serbia lost in the semi-finals despite Djokovic having three match points against Sinner.

Djokovic took responsibility for that loss . This year, he couldn’t play in the qualifiers, but Serbia was still expected to beat Slovakia at home. Shockingly, they lost without winning a single match.

Serbia’s Upcoming Challenge:

Reports say Djokovic will help Serbia in their World Group I tie if they want another shot at the Davis Cup. They’re facing Greece next at Aleksandar Nikolic Hall in Belgrade from September 14th to 15th, just a week after the US Open.

Serbia picked hard courts for this tie even though most of their players prefer clay. They did this because Tsitsipas plays better on clay. But Djokovic’s presence is what fans believe will make the biggest difference.

Fans might think it’s exciting but also nerve-wracking to see if Djokovic can lead them to victory again.

Sasa Ozmo reported that according to the Serbian Tennis Federation, Djokovic is expected to play against Greece. This might be his last chance to win another Davis Cup for Serbia since losing would mean waiting years until he turns 40.

What do you think? Can Djokovic lead Serbia back to glory?
