How Naomi Osaka Predicted Carlos Alcaraz New Hairstyle at US Open

-

Carlos Alcaraz just won the 2025 US Open with some pretty amazing tennis. But honestly? His game wasn’t even the biggest talking point at this year’s tournament.

That’s what happens when you’re not just the ATP world No. 1, but also a global superstar.

We’re talking about a guy with nearly 8 million Instagram followers and millions more across other platforms. Every move he makes gets noticed.

Fashion Icon on and off the Court

Like plenty of tennis legends before him, the young Spaniard has become a fashion icon. He’s known for rocking sleeveless Nike shirts on court – something most players don’t go for.

But it goes way beyond tennis gear.

Louis Vuitton sponsors him, and he’s constantly doing fashion photo shoots. The guy’s also obsessed with sneakers and loves expressing himself through legendary shoes.

And then there are his hairstyles. The six-time Grand Slam champion isn’t afraid to try anything, and his hair choices have become a major talking point over the past few years.

The Buzzcut That Shocked Everyone

During the US Open, Alcaraz showed up with a buzzcut that absolutely shocked fans around the world.

Some loved it. Some hated it.

Turns out, the whole thing was actually a mistake. The two-time US Open champion later revealed it happened because of a misunderstanding with his brother.

Victor, Alcaraz’s barber, usually gets criticized for the world No. 1’s bold haircut choices. But this time, Victor was only responsible for half of the latest experiment.

Going Blonde

After getting home to Murcia following his New York win, Alcaraz quickly met up with Victor again. This time, they came up with another big change.

He went blonde.

Once again, fans were divided – though in a pretty lighthearted way, of course.

Alcaraz had already hinted at some kind of change during the US Open. And it turns out one player saw this coming from a mile away.

Naomi Osaka was one of several players asked about the Spaniard’s buzzcut. She said she admired his bravery for trying something new.

She also made a suggestion that probably seemed pretty random at the time.

"Do I like it? I like people who do different things. So, I find everything kind of interesting if someone doesn’t do something expected. I guess I like it. He’s switching up. Maybe next time, he should dye it platinum or something."

Osaka likely didn’t expect that to actually happen just a few days later.

Where Will Fans See Blonde Carlos First?

Despite winning the US Open less than a week ago and traveling home to Spain, it looks like Alcaraz still plans to head to San Francisco for the upcoming Laver Cup.

The exhibition event starts on September 19th.

If Alcaraz sticks to his commitment – and the latest reports suggest he will – fans will get to see him with his new blonde look in just about a week.

Should be interesting to see how the new hairstyle looks under the bright lights of competition. At 22 years old, the guy clearly isn’t afraid to experiment with his image.
